The year 2012 was a year of change for our family. It began in January when an entrepreneurial idea was discussed…a retreat center . Four years ago when we moved to Hampton, I had this idea of buying a historic property and converting it into a scrapbooking retreat center. By March, this idea really began to take root and we began the search for a property that might work. We wrote a business plan, a financial plan and created a vision for the business. By June we had purchased the property and Timeless Cottage, a retreat and conference center was created. While scrapbooking was the original game plan, the business has evolved to included artistic classes, team building events, business off-sites and overnight retreats.
2012 also saw us decide whether to sell our trailer. For ten years we had enjoyed many family camping trips. One summer we spent over 40 nights in the trailer. Our trips took us as far west as Ottawa, for Canada Day and south to New Hampshire. Such great memories…it was tough to decide to give this up. We will deeply miss our annual trip to PEI.
As our business took shape, we decided that it was time for Kevin to change his career. After 20 years in the corporate world, it was time to slow down and enjoy a different lifestyle. It was a very soul searching, heart wrenching and scary decision to make. We are now enjoying our new adventure.
As we look back we are discovering the joys of entrepreneurship with all it’s ups and downs. It hasn’t been easy but it has been so worth it. At this point I wouldn’t change any of our decisions.
As we look ahead to 2013 we are excited to see our business evolve to meet our customers needs.
Happy New Year!
