Cross Canada Blog Hop – Canvas Display

Each month I am trying to participate in a blog hop to challenge me creatively and hopefully come up with some great classes I can teach. Below is this month’s blog hop entry

Welcome to our May Blog Hop featuring our Canvas Display project.  We have 2 sizes available to purchase, the larger one comes in a WOTG Kit and measures 12×12.   The kit is $39.95 (G1062), it comes with directions, an exclusive stamp set and Embellishments to decorate your canvas, you can find this on page 23.  The second size available measures 6x6, it can be found on page 126, and is $4.95 (Z1818).

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers….whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do….by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow us across Canada then please start at the beginning and join Michelle at mycreationswithmichelle.blogspot.ca. For my first canvas I used the 6×6 and created a key holder.
  • The background was painted using pearl paint and re-inker and then brushed on lightly.  I wanted some of the canvas to show through to give the appearance of clouds.
  • The owl was created using the Cricut Artiste cartridge and Buzz and Bumble paper packet.
  • The leaf was also cut from the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  I cut 2 one from kraft paper and one from green card stock.  I used a stylus to score the leaves and then lightly sanded the paper to create the veins.
  • Lastly I added a cup hook in the center of the canvas through the wooden frame.
For the second canvas I used the 12×12 that comes as a workshop on the go kit and re-created the canvas using the instructions as a guideline.  All of the products used came with the kit with the exception of the inks.

Bonus project:
The jewellery frame project came to me after I had already used my CTMH canvases but I wanted to share it because I would definitely use the 12×12 frame to do this project.
The project was created the same as the 6×6 frame with the exception of the branch.  I cut the branch out of cork to create a place to put earrings.  The larger canvas allows more hooks to hang necklaces, bracelets and rings.
What a great addition to a dorm room for an upcoming grad.  I will be offering a class on the jewellery frame at Timeless Cottage on 25 May.  Contact me for more information info@timelesscottage.ca

Great ideas and the little owls are adorable. I had considered using the pearl paint with re-inker on my canvas project but never having done that technique before I was hesitant. So glad to see that the result on canvas is very pretty! Going to have to get more canvases now and try this technique…
